The Roman Road Recap Week 1

“All Roads Lead To Rome”

  1. Introduce us to the book of Romans and its author.
  2. Educate us on the Romans Road to Salvation.
  3. Lay out the expectations to our study through the book of Romans.

  1. The author – Saul of Tarsus aka Paul
  • Paul’s background – Acts 22:3
  • The change – 1 Timothy 1:12-15

The Book of Romans – many scholars have termed it “the greatest book of the Bible.”

  • JESUS is seen in Romans as the propitiation for our sins.
  • It is about “GOD’S Good News.” (Romans 1:1b-2) (Isaiah 53:5-6)

The Book of Romans answers many of the hard questions.

  • Is JESUS really GOD?
  • What is GOD like?
  • How can GOD send people to Hell?
  • Why do humans reject GOD and HIS SON?
  • Why are there false religions?
  • Why are there sex perversions, crime, hatred, dishonesty and so on?
  • How can a person who has never heard the Gospel be held spiritually responsible?

The Book of Romans quotes the Old Testament some 57 times.

The Book of Romans speaks to our society today just as it did when it was written to the 1st century church:

  • About morality telling us how we ought to live.
  • About social issues informing us of how to relate to one another.
  • About psychological issues telling us the way to true freedom.
  • About citizenship showing us our civil responsibility to human government.
  • About spiritual things answering our need for hope for the future
  • Most of all showing us the Road to GOD HIMSELF.
  1. The Romans Road to Salvation.
  • In the front cover of your Bible write: The Romans Road {Go to Romans 3:23}
    • Romans 3:23 tells us our condition. (Romans 3:10 – none righteous) Write {Go to Romans 6:23}
    • Romans 6:23 tells us our problem. Write {Go to Romans 5:8}
    • Romans 5:8 tells us about GOD’S provision. Write {Go to Romans 10:9-10; & 13}
    • Romans 10:9-10 & 13 tells us what our response needs to be. (John 3:17-18)
  1. A bit of what we can expect on this journey:
  • A workbook
    • So we can write out the Word of GOD. (Proverbs 7:1-3)
    • So we can keep our notes as we write out scripture and as we study and listen to the messages in this series.
  • Knowledge of how to share the “Good News of GOD.”
  • A deeper understanding of GOD’S Word.
  • Answers to many of the tough questions of life.

It’s not too late to join us on the journey down the Roman Road, look forward to seeing you each Sunday as we make this journey one step at a time together.
